Games for children and adults have always been part of Islamic civilisation; they arise naturally from a society’s different activities. These games were influenced by cultural and environmental factors, which makes them a true mirror for society; they teach and instil traditions and values including leadership, cooperation, determination, will, vigour, courage and speed.
Games of various forms and types are considered to be one of humanity’s oldest forms of expression. Games are an important part of life. one cannot view all forms of entertainment as a waste of time for it holds positive qualities and benefits - as it relates to arts or sports
Games that have been passed down through the generations reflect and highlight a society’s culture and heritage. Traditional games are a unique form of heritage with a prominent place in the memories of individuals and communities.
Games are also associated with anecdotes and moral standards. This is evident in the Andalusian society which simulated nature and formed models of it; showcasing the region’s civilization through its people’s games and ways of entertainment. All of which originally shaped by cultural, social, religious and political influences.
